It makes perfect sense doesn't it. Chelsea and AVB are rumoured to have "strong interest" in signing Bolton's Gary Cahill in the January transfer window and will face stiff opposition from Spurs who made no secret of their admiration for him with a move towards the end of the last transfer window that was rejected.
Back at the end of August, Bolton were holding out for £15m and Spurs never matched their valuation and to this day, Cahill remains a Bolton player.
I think it's obvious that Cahill WILL leave Bolton at the end of the season as his contract expires so Bolton will look to cash in and get some money back so expect Spurs to come in for him again.
However, Owen Coyle and AVB have a good working relationship after being on coaching courses together four years ago and are on very good terms still. I just wonder, with Josh McEachran looking like he is preparing to move on loan for the remainder of the season come the January transfer window, if AVB can tempt Coyle to negotiate McEachran's loan at the Reebok as part of a deal for Cahill?
There is no shortage of clubs looking at Josh and wanting to take him on loan as I have posted on here before, but Bolton would jump ahead of everyone if they offered Cahill to Chelsea in a cut price deal of around £6-£8m.
We all saw what the loan at the Reebok has done for Danny Sturridge's confidence and career, and I am sure the same thing would happen to Josh.
For me, it's a perfect situation and deal that would suit all parties. Bolton get their money before the player leaves for nothing, Chelsea bring in a young up and coming talent to bolster their defensive ranks with Alex looking like he is leaving anyway and Josh gets to go out on loan in the Premier League to have more of a chance of first team football.
Simples!
