Back on Friday, the FA confirmed that they have charged AVB for his comments made after our defeat at Loftus Road against QPR. The statement from the FA said:
Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has been charged with improper conduct by The FA, following media comments he made about the match official after his side's match at Queens Park Rangers on 23 October 2011.(Source)
Villas-Boas has until 4pm on 15 November 2011 to respond to the charge.
What AVB actually said after the game was this:
The ref was poor, very very poor. And it reflected in the result. I spoke to him at the end and I was very aggressive to him. I don’t care if he’s OK or not. Everyone can have a bad day, but this was not a bad day for us. It was a good day for us and a bad day for the referee.(Source)
A couple of decisions are right, yellow cards for sure, but I think he lost it before and was card happy towards the team. I’m not happy with the difference of treatment. Apart from the fourth official, the other three were led by the emotions of the crowd and couldn’t deal with a game like this.
Now AVB has a choice whether to respond to the charge and of course being a biased Chelsea fan, I would want him to do so. It was obvious that the Referee didn't have a good game and WAS card happy against us. I still to this day don't think that Bosingwa's was worth a sending off as SWP and him were pulling each others shirts equally. I have no argument about Drogba's sending off and I do agree with that one.
The problem we have is that he could be given a touchline ban which would affect us with some big games coming up. That's the dilemma.
I personally feel that AVB did feel that strongly about the performance of the Referee like the rest of us and he should respond to the charge. Whether or not it makes any difference is another thing.
What do you think he should do? Should he sit and take his punishment hope it's just a fine and nothing more or should he fight his corner and run the risk of a ban?
