Another story that has appeared over the course of the weekend is the fact that Didier Drogba's contract negotiations could hit a hitch and Bayern Munich are monitoring the situation and are ready to pounce.
Apparently Drogba is after a final two year deal and bearing in mind he is now 33, Chelsea are looking at offering a one year extension. In addition to this, Drogba has "concerns" that he will spend most of his time on the Chelsea bench if he does sign a new deal so if that is the case, would consider a final lucrative deal somewhere else before he finishes his career.
This is why Bayern Munich come in. They have also been long term admirers of Drogba and could pounce in January by offering Drogba a pre contract agreement to sign him in the summer, offer him regular first team football and that deal he wants.
So, we have to see what happens here. We know that AVB wants him, we know that Drogba wants to stay, but saying that, and with the club looking to cut costs, it could be that the Chelsea board decide to allow Drogba to leave the club and save on his reported wages of over £100,000 per week.
The key thing here will be just how many starts Drogba gets this season with Torres fit. Torres has found some form here now and is scoring goals so I just wonder if Drogba will find himself as a sub for most of the season and if that will force his hand.
We shall see!
