BOSINGWA'S NEW DEAL?

One person that will split opinion amongst Chelsea fans is Jose Bosingwa. Not the best player defensively compared to others we have at the club, but one of the best attacking defenders, he seems to have established himself as a first team regular this season under AVB.

It's all very different to last season where there had been constant speculation that he would be one of the players to leave the club back in the summer.

It's seems to me anyway, that Bosingwa has become a vital part of AVB's attacking approach to our game at Chelsea. With Ashley Cole doing the same down the left hand side, teams are forced back to cover. Look at Bolton for example. Look how many times David Luiz was able to bring the ball forward about 40-50 yards without being challenged. That was because Bosingwa had pushed so far forward to join up with our attack that Martin Petrov was forced to follow him and created wide open space for Luiz to move into.

Bosingwa has also played a key part in some of our goals this season and of course scored a cracker to open the scoring against Norwich.

When asked about talks of a new deal at the club, Bosingwa said:

"I am happy at Chelsea and with the arrival of the new manager I have improved my performance.

I would like a solution soon and to be focused on my work for the team. This season we can be very competitive for all of the trophies."

I would imagine a 3 year deal would be on the table as he is 29 now. I think he still needs to work on his defending because at times he can be rash and give silly fouls away but like I say, you cannot deny his attacking ability which seems to fit AVB's new approach here perfectly.

Let's see what happens but I do expect a deal to be agreed soon.
