Ashley Cole's new contract?

I posted the other week about some of our unsung hero's that don't make many headlines on the football pitch. One was Ramires as we all know how well he has been playing this season, the other was Ashley Cole who has been outstanding for us this season!.

His form has been consistently good and once again he is having an influence on our attacking play as much as defending. If you watch the video footage of Chelsea's first goal on Saturday against Everton, just watch again the touch Cole gets on the ball to send it across goal and into the patch of Danny Sturridge to score, it was fantastic, it really was!.

So, I am happy to hear a rumour that Ashley Cole will be putting an end to speculation that his future could be away from Chelsea with constant rumours of reported interest from Barcelona and the mega rich Russian side, Anzhi Makhachkala.

Cole is only 30 (seems he's been around forever doesn't it) and a rumour appeared here that the club is preparing to offer him a two year extension to his current deal that expires at the end of next season.

For me he is the best around in his position and OK we have Ryan Bertrand as a backup but, no one can compare at the moment to Cole. He just continues to play well week after week and had become a huge part of the backbone of the side.

I really hope this isn't some made up rumour and Cole signs this apparent extension offered to him sooner rather than later!
