The big plus for this weekend as far as I am concerned is that Danny Sturridge is back and available for selection after his three match ban has now run out. Sturridge was by far and away our best player in pre season cutting in from the left hand side and being honest we have missed him.
Of course we now have the option of Juan Mata but I still believe Sturridge WILL command a start against Sunderland which could mean that we see Mata playing on the opposite side of Fernando Torres.
Sturridge has openly admitted that has given him freedom with his football to express himself and to show everyone what he can do and he took his chance to do exactly that in pre season.
For me, I would stick Sturridge down the left and Mata on the right either side of the front man so we have good attacking options and most importantly of all, pace in our attack. In addition to that we would also then have the option of switching their positions from either side, or even with Sturridge linking up with Torres through the middle and Mata playing in behind..
The important thing for us now is that we have plenty of options to choose from and to play with during games. Chelsea can no longer really be considered as "predictable" with the signings we have made. If you haven't done already, please have a look here and give your starting eleven and reasons why.
One thing is for sure, Sturridge WILL breathe new life into our forward line and into the side as a whole. Let's hope we continues with the type of performance on Saturday that we have seen ever since he returned to Chelsea.
