TORRES: "Gives you confidence when you score with the first ball you touch"

Fernando Torres has been featured on Chelsea TV fresh from scoring the second of our two goals against Aston Villa the other day and has spoken of his goal, confidence and how things have been going this pre season.

He said:

"It gives you confidence when you score with the first ball you touch, but especially because with a 2-0 lead we closed the game. A striker has to always be ready to score and when you score with the first time you touch the ball you have already done your work so everything is easier after that.

When you have players with quality and players who can play in different positions you are able to use different formations and that is good, because depending on the opposition and the scoreline and the competition, you have to change the system. It is very good news as it is working very well, the same as the 4-3-3.

Our fitness is very good, we have won all the games we have played and it is only two weeks until the start of the season. The manager has given minutes to everyone and everyone feels they are part of the team and that is important."

Isn't it strange how much you are sitting watching the game and are willing someone to score as much as we do Fernando Torres. You could immediately see almost the burden lifted off of his shoulders. He was happy and was enjoying playing his football and that is a massive thing for Chelsea this season.

AVB stressed the importance of getting the best out of his players and motivating each one of them and judging by Torres' comments in addition to the other players who have already spoken about our pre season so far, it seems that AVB has begun to see the fruition of his work with the players ahead of the new season.

It is important to not get carried away with Torres and he will know that better than anyone, but I cannot emphasise to you all enough, Fernando Torres will be fantastic for Chelsea this season and I really hope THAT GOAL is the start of it.
