ORIOL ROMEU'S GOING TO START SOME GAMES.

Chelsea confirmed yesterday the signing of Barcelona's 19 year old defensive midfielder Orio Romeu for a fee of around £4.5m on a four year contract and immediately AVB was quick to point out that he WILL feature in games this season.

AVB said:

"It is a part of the squad where we are struggling with numbers because of Michael's injury. Oriol is one of the most promising young players in that position."

So it's got me thinking straight away just how involved he will be this season.

We all know that Mikel will play to begin with but it seems that AVB will be keen to get Romeu involved judging by his comments. When I first posted on the blog about the Spaniard I admitted that I never knew much about him and that is still the same now.

The positive is that we now have cover for the DM position in our side with either Mikel and Romeu to battle it out.

More intriguing with all this is for me anyway, that it means Josh McEachran now has a chance to play futher forward in the number 8 or number 10 positions that AVB describes and I wouldn't be surprised if he also features heavily this season.

It will be interesting to get to know Romeu and his game when he comes back from the Under 20 World Cup in Columbia. At the end of the day, the fact that Barcelona have insisted in buy back clauses being inserted into the deal so they don't have to face another "Fabregas" situation, the player HAS to be highly rated by insiders at the Catalan club.

Trust in AVB, Romeu could become a star for Chelsea and then again like I said, he could free Josh to play further forward and become and even bigger one!
