MODRIC : Will the final bid force Spurs to sell?

I think it's common knowledge that Chelsea want Luka Modric and he wants to come to Chelsea. It's common knowledge that Chelsea have had two bids rejected by Spurs believed to be £22m and then £27m. It's common knowledge Daniel Levy has said he the player is not for sale and will not be sold BUT he said the same thing about Michael Carrick, Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane!.

The Mirror believes that Chelsea will look to tempt Spurs with a £30m bid before the season starts next week and after the initial comments made by Kevin Bond this week ("Everyone has a price"), Chelsea believe that Spurs' stance appears to be softening.

Another point that has been made in the article is that they feel as though Harry Redknapp has been told in order to make big moves in the transfer window he needs to make player sales first and you have to say £30m could go towards two or three players.

We have been harping on and on about Modric all summer so there isn't really much else to say about the player. I posted the other week "Who needs Modric when we've got McEachran" and I stand by that.

For me, if Chelsea are going to spend £30m on a player it should be a pacey winger rather than anything else including Modric but that's just me.

So, with just over a week to go, we will wait and see what happens. Will Chelsea in fact make the final £30m offer? Will Spurs cave in and accept the deal? and what do you fans think of this now we are almost due to start the season shortly. We've had a look at our clubs this pre season so do you feel we need to sign him and can Spurs afford to sell him?
