MATA DEAL CONFIRMED. STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

I posted on here the other day about Chelsea's interest in Juan Mata and added a video of him and exactly what he could do and offer Chelsea. As you can imagine like all of you, I was delighted to see that the club officially announced the agreement in place to sign him with Valencia. The deal is reported to be around £23-24m.

The announcement from Chelsea on the site says:

An agreement has been reached with Valencia CF for the transfer to Chelsea of midfielder Juan Manuel Mata.

The move is now subject to the player passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.

Mata will provide Chelsea with a balance down the right hand side. Something we have been lacking for years, ever since the days of Robben and Duff. We have been crying out for someone to play there and give us a creative spark and I believe Mata will do exactly that. The West Brom game at the weekend highlighted the fact even more so than last season.

What's important about this signing, along with the others so far is the players age. AVB is gradually rebuilding our squad, bringing the average age down and I like what he is doing.

Juan Mata is a class act (check out the link to the video above) and will bring that extra dimension to Chelsea. Like I said, something that has been missing for years!.
