Last week Marcel Desailly gave an interview about AVB coming into the club and I chose not to blog about it as I am getting bored of Desailly giving his "opinions" on Chelsea as he seems to blow hot and cold all the time. He is someone that at times winds me up with his views on life at the Bridge so I chose not to blog about his latest "offering" to the media.
Anyway, it's seems one person who did read Desailly's comments and took offense to it was Frank Lampard and he has been quick to re-iterate the stance of the established players and taking to AVB since his arrival. Desailly had said that AVB would "Have to win over the established players quickly" and "His age could become an issue".
Lampard replied:
I get the impression this whole age thing will drag on and on during the course of the season. I just wish people get over it. People in the media seem to be stuck in the old days about people being successful after gaining important experience over a period of time such as Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger but to me it's about moving forward with the times.
What I am saying is that we are going to be hearing and reading all season about the fact that AVB hasn't been a manager for long as this is only his second full season as manager. Yes I know it's a fact but we don't need to be constantly reminded of it because he has been studying the game from a very young age.
He has plenty of experience and he has moved forward with methods and techniques that have changed over the years along with technology so I don't personally care for the age of the bloke as I know he will work hard to bring success to Chelsea.
As for this whole thing about winning over the likes og JT, Cech, Lampard and Drogba as Lampard says it's rubbish. We are talking about professional players here just like Desailly was so he should have known better.
Hearing what a new manager means again to Chelsea this season for ALL the players and not just the established ones, it's good to see that it's still important for someone like Lampard who celebrates his 10th season with us this year, to try and play well and impress to keep his place in the side.
So please stop reading all this rubbish about AVB's levels of experience and his age. He has been brought in to be our manager, the Chelsea players have dealt with it in the right way and that is all that matters.

"I read that he has to gain our respect instantly, and it’s never like that at football clubs. It certainly isn’t for me personally, and it wouldn’t be for John Terry.(Source)
You want to impress. I want to impress him now at the age of 33 just the same as I did when I was 22. Simple as that. We are here to impress as individuals, and we want to make the group successful. We will always respect the manager, and that applies with any manager we get.
