I know most of the Chelsea fans that come onto my blog everyday and take the time to post their comments have said all summer that we need a creative midfielder this season. It's becoming apparent now more than ever that Roman Abramovich and AVB have to get a deal done for someone to come into our side to unlock the door asap or we will be left behind.
Now this post is not a knee jerk reaction to the weekends results and performances after watching both Manchester sides. It is something that has become more and more apparent towards the end of last season and after the Stoke game on Sunday.
Our opposition from week to week know exactly how to play us, how to set their side up and how to frustrate us and that's by lining up two banks of 4 defenders and 4 midfielders in front of our man with the ball to make life difficult and as a result we saw Stoke do the same the other day.
Chelsea look to be playing much wider than last season. Alot of our focus on getting the ball forward was out wide to spread the play but when that was closed down or didn't happen, we needed that final killer pass.
Watching United now they have three players who can create something out of nothing and that's Nani, Young and Rooney. Seeing Man City against Swansea last night and you realise they have their play maker in David Silva.. You can bet your life that these four players are going to be heavily involved in their sides performances this season as their clubs rely on them to do their job which is to create and score goals.
I do believe that we have the squad capable of being successful this season already but I guess for me anyway, it's just that something a little bit extra, the additional dynamic to our play that WILL take us to the next level this season. Whether or not that's out wide or through the middle is another thing but one thing is clear and that's what we are lacking right now..
AVB and Roman Abramovich need to do make a signing to fill that void in the squad asap. AVB said the other day he is TWO midfielders short so that's an encouraging sign.
For me I would get out there and get Neymar and someone like Nasri. Neymar for his obvious talent and his pace and Nasri because I believe he could be THAT person playing through the middle that can unlock the door so why sit back and let City try and sign him?
If Spurs are holding out for more than £35m for Modric and Sneijders wage demands are impossible, then why not go out and offer £25m for Nasri and get him now?
Let's hope we have the playmaker we need by the time the window closes.

Your right, we do need a playmaker but I think most of all we need a winger. The game against Stoke, we were too narrow and Stoke dissed us out. The defended narrow. Ever sonde Duff/Robben left, we have not had sufficient width. It's similar to last season. Way too narrow. Now I know Cole and Bosingwa are used to apply the width but that's asking too much of them and the danger to that is, if we lose the ball, they are struggling to track back. I believe we need a dynamic winger, who can take on a few and deliver good crosses or even shoot. A player like Bale. In that mould. Why not go for Juan Mata? He's available for good money. £30m would seal him. He's young, Spanish and would strike a great understanding with Torres. If we get Nasri, Modric or even Sneijder, we will still have similar problems. Teams will close the gap and make it narrow. Young, Nani, Valencia all give good width to Utd and City's first goal today came from Adam Johnson's shotfrom a wide position.
