Neymar will cost £41m (according to his agent)

According to Neymar's agent, Chelsea will have to pay £41m this summer to get their man. Wagner Ribeiro is quoted in The Sun as saying:

"Last year Santos received an offer of £32m from Chelsea and it was rejected. Now he would not leave for less than £41m.

"Neymar is like Messi. Soon he will be the best in the world because he is a player unlike any other. He is just 19 but all the big clubs are following him."

It's typical really of a players agent to say that though isn't it. First of all he states a price in public probably over and above what the club are looking for so he get's his cut of the deal and then states that all the big clubs are interested.

For me and this is what the problem is these days, it should be down to the player where he want's to go and no one else. The players agent will always look for the most lucrative deal for his client but in some cases it's not always the best option. For example, Robinho thought he was signing for Chelsea a few years ago but ended up at Manchester City because it meant his agent got the most he could for the club and himself!.

We all know happened since, Robinho left the club after a short period of time but would it have been different if he came to Chelsea. It's the club he wanted to sign for so why didn't his agent listen?

It could be the case all over again with Neymar. He has publically stated that he likes the idea of Chelsea so if we are interested and can agree a fee with Santos then why can't his agent just leave it at that rather than offer him round to other clubs just so he can fill his pocket!?

I can see Chelsea making another bid for the player but not sure it will be near what his agent is stating. Let's just hope the player, even though he is still young, doesn't have his head turned by financially driven agents who would rather line their own pockets, than to do right by their client and listen to what they actually want!.
