Ron Gourlay is featured in today's press speaking of the search for a new manager at the club and also of the clubs transfer plans. When asked about the current speculation regarding the manager he said:
"It's a big season for us coming up. Things didn't go as well as we hoped last season and plans are very much in place for next season to be back winning trophies.
As far as the manager is concerned, the process is going well but now is not the time for me to comment on who the next manager is going to be. We will announce things in the usual way but hopefully in the next week or two, we'll be in a position to announce who our new coach will be.
Next he was asked about all the transfer speculation at the moment. We are being linked to all sorts of players at the moment and Gourlay maybe revealed more than he wanted to by his answer. He said:
"As far as players are concerned, the basis of the team will be the same for next season," he added. "There may be an introduction of two or three players. We've identified key players that we'd like to bring to the team, players who can strengthen the team but of course we'll probably have to wait until the new coach is in place."(Source)
Let me state on record here now I believe that it will be Guus Hiddink. I think everything points to the fact that HE IS the one Chelsea want and whatever Roman wants, he normally gets for a price.
It's Gourlay's answers to me that point to Hiddink as the new man in charge. He says hopefully "in a week or two" the club will be able to announce their new coach. Guus Hiddink has been on holiday, comes back this week and that's when I believe negotiations will begin.
When talking of the players, Gourlay said that the club has "identified key players". Well we all know that Guus has been employed by Chelsea as an advisor for the past two seasons so you can bet your life he has "advised" the club of who these two or three players are.
Last of all, he said about "waiting till the new coach is in place" because that's when the deals will be done because the player would want to speak to the coach wouldn't they. Hiddink will be appointed and then would be able to speak with these "key players" he has identified.
Forget all the other stories around, I am telling you now, Guus Hiddink is coming to Chelsea. As for the three key players, it's anyone's guess!
