GO AND GET SNEIJDER!

Glen Hoddle has been quoted speaking to ESPN about Chelsea and the fact that we have come up short in the Champions League in recent seasons and believes that Chelsea lack a creative element to our midfield and see's Wesley Sneijder as someone perfect for us in that role.

He said:

"Chelsea keep coming closer to winning the Champions League, they have been consistently reaching semi-finals, but right now the squad is lacking a creative element in midfield, to open the door.

I feel they have a good strike force, and I do believe that Fernando Torres will come good, but it is not easy for him without chances being laid on by a creative midfield.

Someone like Wesley Sneijder comes to mind, the big clubs here are chasing him, but he is the kind of player Chelsea need and they need a couple like him.

At the moment they are too predictable in midfield, and to go to the next level they need much more creativity, but Chelsea will appreciate there are not many of that highest quality around these days, and the few that are are being chased by the elite clubs."

Does he have a point? I think he does about our midfield. Whenever I speak to fellow Chelsea fans, the comment I always seem to hear is about the fact that we lack someone who can create something, produce something no one else can to unlock the door and to change a game.

That argument is backed up by some of our performances this season. I spoke of our 4-3-3 formation and how we can make it work and what happens when we do not play the right way. Teams line up defensively against us and we struggle to break them down.

Wesley Sneijder is an interesting option for me because a year ago he turned his back on reported interest from Chelsea and other clubs to sign a new long term contract at Inter Milan. Jose left, Benitez came in and was then sacked as Inter's season fell away. They gave up their defence of the Champions League too easily to Schalke too so maybe, Sneijder may be looking to move on.

We all know his ability and what he can do as we have suffered first hand last season. Do you think Sneijder is the kind of player Chelsea need next season and do you believe Hoddle?
