As we all know Fernando Torres needs a goal to kick start his Chelsea career. You cannot question his enthusiasm and work rate since he has come to Chelsea, he just needs that lucky break to get his first goal.
I posted on my blog what I believe the reasons are for Torres not finding the net yet at Chelsea and that's because we need to play to his strengths. I still stand by my view now.
Tonight it seems as though Fernando Torres will start for Chelsea, possibly in the place of Nicolas Anelka, up front next to Didier Drogba tonight and it's a chance for Chelsea to get their act together and to give Torres the service he needs.
If you think about it the Drogba & Torres partnership could be the best in the world, the most feared partnership in the Premier League and in Europe if we could get them to click together.
Javier Hernandez has said that he believes that Manchester United's forward line is better than Chelsea's. Tonight is the perfect opportunity to prove him wrong. What better time for Drogba and Torres to finally click, and to get your first goal for Chelsea, in the competition the owner, everyone at Chelsea and the fans crave.
Speaking of Torres, Carlo Ancelotti spoke of our £50m man and gave an indication that he will start. He said:
“He doesn’t have a problem. The feeling is good. He is not happy because he didn’t score in this kind of game but it was not necessary, He is very happy to stay here. He is very relaxed in the training, he is feeling good, I think. Just because it is a new team for him, it is a new world. So you have to give him time to settle. I believe in my players, not just Fernando.
I am not the type of manager who feels if a player is not playing well he will not give him the possibility to play again. I want to support the player if the moment is not so good. But as a performer, I am happy with Fernando’s performances. He will play tomorrow.
I don’t want to say who will play tomorrow. I don’t want to give an advantage."
