Let's face it and be honest here, Florent Malouda can be world class, can be a match winner in his own right but this season hasn't been anywhere near the high standards he had set himself in recent seasons.
Don't get me wrong he started off this season like a train but then his form, like the rest of the sides, dipped and it has taken him such a long time to recover and begin to show glimpses of being on his way back to somewhere near his best.
His two goals the other night for me, was a major step in his recovery and he has been speaking of his form, and our run in to the end of the season. Once again, the message is clear from the Chelsea camp, we need to win EVERY game!. He said:
"Mentally and physically I feel strong again, When you score two goals in a game you feel you are back to your best form. Maybe it is because we have fewer games to play and we have more time to prepare, but I am working hard in training to prepare the best of my form and have the result in the games. It is great also to have the confidence of the players around me.(Source)
The title race is open for the three teams and even though Arsenal drew, we are only second because of the goal difference, We have no choice but to win every game to put pressure on Man United. They have to play at Arsenal but we have to play our part by winning our games.
We have to stay humble, we know where we are coming from. We had difficult moments we had to overcome to come back to the second place and now we have to play at our best level. We are out of the Champions League now and we have to give everything until the end of the season."
What strikes me the most about Malouda is his face. When he is smiling relaxed on the pitch, he enjoys his football, has confidence and it flows through him when he is in possession of the football.
When the smile has gone it seems he has the weight of the world on his shoulders, doesn't enjoy it and finds it difficult to make any sort of real impact in games. I think if Malouda ever read this post he would admit it himself at times this season it was like that!. I posted about it at the time and back then I stand by what I have written.
However, in recent games it seems Malouda has his swagga back, has a smile on his face and is enjoying football again. As he says we need to win every game and let's hope he can play a big big part in that!.
