THE SUN is running a story this morning stating that Didier Drogba and his representatives will hold crunch talks with Chelsea this week to discuss his future. The article states that Drogba is seeking assurances that he is STILL the main man at Chelsea even if Carlo Ancelotti is replaced in the summer.
It also states that if Drogba finds out that he is no longer classed as the "main man" at the club, he will look to find a club that can match the current wage he earns at Chelsea which is believed to be at around £120,000 per week!.
The problem we all have to face and to be realistic about is HIS AGE!. I know he is fit as a fiddle at the moment and still is the best all around forward there is in the Premier League. Who's to say after next season he will be the same?. If he can maintain his level of performance for the club (and I mean the level where he is unplayable and "up for every game" rather than the rubbish that we have to put up with from time to time) then I think the club would possibly offer an additional year to his contract.
However, and I have said this before, Roman Abramovich has made cut throat decisions before with the likes of Michael Ballack and who's to say he won't do it again.
What's your take on Didier Drogba and his talks this week and do you realistically think the club will re-assure him that he is our number one?. How would you feel if they didn't!?
