OPINION: Back in the title race or left it too late?

Carlo Ancelotti has played down talk of Chelsea being back in the title race after we cut our points deficit down to just nine with a game in hand after beating Blackpool the other night. United have their injury problems, Arsenal seem to be stuttering and with City and Spurs to come to the Bridge with a trip to Old Trafford I just wonder if we are right back in it!.

Carlo said:

"Our aim at this moment is to stay in the top four. We are closer to Manchester United but we have to prepare for the next game and prepare game by game."

Anything can happen in football, and this season more so than any in previous years proves the point. Teams have been and are dropping points and I believe this will continue.

Chelsea look to have turned the corner after two wins on the spin and are looking strong again. Frank Lampard is back on the goal trail even if we are still trying to find the right balance up front. Frank seems to be back to his best which carried us through the other night, but once we can sort out our balance and combination up front, Chelsea will be much stronger and let's not forget have valuable experience of being in the title run in over the past few seasons.

I know it's a long way off and there is a long way to go, but I still believe and I think deep down Ancelotti and the players do. As long as we can beat City at home in our next game as that would take us one point above them with a game in hand, we can then focus on the top two.

The fact they still have to play each other, Arsenal still have to play Liverpool and Chelsea travel to Old Trafford, I wouldn't count us out just yet!.
