Carlo Ancelotti has recently spoken of how important it will become for Chelsea to keep players fresh and to use squad rotation between now and the end of the season. With Chelsea being in a favourable position at the moment in having a fully fit squad to choose from, Carlo WILL rotate his players to ensure Chelsea have the maximum opportunity to win every game.
Didier Drogba is featured in another interview after the Copenhagen game but this time he has revealed an acceptance of the situation we have at Chelsea since the arrival of Fernando Torres and a switch in formation, that the players know they will not play every game.
He said:
"It's a new situation, but I've been in this situation before. It wasn't easy the first week [after Torres joined] but that's normal. Today I know that we're doing this for the best of the team. The team is more competitive. Everybody talks a lot about my future but I'm enjoying it and I'm happy to be here.(Source: The Guardian)
It's a new formation and we have a lot of strikers, but I can't complain, I'm not the only one doing the turnover [rotation]. Salomon Kalou is not playing, Malouda is not playing, sometimes Anelka, sometimes me. This time it was Nando. I think it's good for the team. A team like Chelsea must have a lot of players to achieve a lot in a year."
When it comes to rotation I have had my own opinion on this and I do stand by it. (To cut a long story short, we need to play our best side week in, week out). However, after seeing what is happening to United, City and Arsenal with their injuries and the problems they now face, maybe it is a good thing to keep players fresh.
With my own personal opinion put to one side, it's good to hear that the players understand the situation and have accepted Carlo Ancelotti's intentions from now until the end of the season. A happy house can only be good for Chelsea.
