What the hell is Ancelotti going on about? 4TH PLACE!

Look I know we lost to Liverpool last weekend and we were woeful. I know that we have lost more games than we should have done this season and some of our performances were not those of defending champions!. However, in Carlo Ancelotti's press conference yesterday he made a comment that wound me up to say the least. He said:

"Now for us it is difficult to think that we can come back and fight for the Premier League title. The gap is very big, we have to be honest.

The most important thing is to reach fourth place in the table to maintain Chelsea in the Champions League and we have to fight with the other teams.

It is better for us to take it game by game in the Premier League but we have to reach fourth place as a minimum."

WHAT? Fourth place!, Are you being serious!??. What on earth has happened in the space of a week?. Immediately after the Liverpool game, Ancelotti said:

'We are disappointed because we had a great opportunity to close the gap and now there is the same distance, but we have to keep going, we have less possibility to close the gap but we have to try again.

So his mindset has moved from "we have to try again" to "the important thing is to reach fourth place". I have to say I find yesterday's comments really confusing and frustrating. I also asked on here during the week why were people having a pop at Carlo Ancelotti? and defended him and insisted it was the players who were to blame. His comments yesterday are hardly inspiring to us the fans and the players are they!?.

Since then we've also heard Frank Lampard come out and speak of the desire to keep going this season, JT has spoken about how this is a massive time for us too with the signings of Torres and Luiz, so why on earth has Carlo's focus shifted three places down the League table?.

I for one as a Chelsea fan, will not accept fourth place as our target and still believe, although maybe it is a big ask, that we can kick on, get on a run and take as many points as possible to see where it takes us this season. The other top sides have to play each other, we have to play United and City at home and United away and we can win these games.

So Mr Ancelotti, sort yourself out, get your head up and get those players ready to fight till the death to get the best we can out of the remaining games. We have the players to do it and in you, the right coach to do it.

After Roman's investment in the club a couple of weeks ago, he will not accept anything less!.
