Ancelotti - Abramovich steps up and backs his man.

We all have had our opinions on Carlo Ancelotti at some stage of the season and I have aired my view on here. I have also aired my view on what looked like the club's transfer policies and you the Chelsea fans have also argued your point of view as it looked like Carlo's hands were tied.

One thing is for sure, the actions of Roman Abramovich and the club has signalled their intent for this season and beyond but most importantly of all, is a sign for Carlo Ancelotti that they are prepared to back him to the hilt and stand by the man we all have grown to love.

Admit it, like me you were half expecting an "announcement" from Stamford Bridge towards the end of our dismal run of form indicating Carlo has been relived from his duties, that saw our title challenge almost fall apart. Why wouldn't we?, we had seen other Managers dismissed for less so if you say you never thought about it or expected to hear something then I don't believe you.

Carlo remained defiant and even said he was a lucky man but stated on record time and time again that he has a good relationship with Roman and still remains in his job. Ok, he admitted he was under pressure also, but he never shirked away from the media when faced with a barrage of questions.

What's happened in the last 24 hours must be a real boost to Carlo. He knows and always maintained that we had a squad good enough, but to add Torres and Luiz to the equation takes our squad to another level and provides Carlo with many more options.

It's plain and simple. Roman's spending spree has given all of us fans and the rest of the players a boost and has added an air of excitement about our club and exactly what we are capable now of achieving this season.

For Carlo Ancelotti, it's a massive boost, and a message from all at the club that he IS the right man to take this club forward, he is the one the players want and he is the one WE want. Carlo now has the players at his disposal to challenge once again this season.

Let's hope Carlo and the lads can now really kick on and mount a real challenge in all competitions.
