Now I have been holding off on writing this blog post for a couple of months now in the hope that his form would improve and things would get back to normal. Let's be honest it hasn't at all and finally I believe (in light of this article about Malouda) it's time to have my say on things (an encourage all of you reading this to do the same by commenting below).
The blistering start to the season following on from last season is well and truly in the past as far as watching Malouda is concerned. The smile on his face has gone on the pitch and has been replaced with an attitude at times that resembles someone who feels as though he has "issues" and a problem with everything going on around him.
Malouda once he got going in a Chelsea shirt was literally unstoppable in games. Was one of the first names on the Chelsea team sheet as far as I am concerned and would influence games with a calmness, composure and provide us with plenty of attacking threat. His link up with Ash down the left hand side and with Anelka and Drogba up front caused teams all sorts of problems last season and the beginning of this, but now it seems to be lacking.
Looking at our drastic loss of form and our disastrous run of results, you would expect Malouda to be one of the experienced players to grab the team by the scruff of the neck, take the lead in games and get things going on the pitch for Chelsea to try to turn things around but it simply never happened.
Even now, Malouda very rarely plays the full 90 minutes and is replaced in games which, you have to say, would have been unheard of when Chelsea claimed the double last season and started this. So I am wondering what happens on Monday. With news of Lampard possibly missing the game through injury, Malouda could be given a reprieve and start in midfield next to Essien. If Lampard is fit then in my view Malouda needs to be given a wake up call of some sorts. If it means he is left on the bench then so be it, but we need our best eleven now week in, week out until the end of the season so does that now include Malouda or not?.
I think we can all agree, we need Chelsea to up and at it now in every game as I posted on here about the seven games that will define our season. Whatever needs to happen to Florent Malouda to sort out these issues he has that are blatantly apparent on seeing his body language and facial expressions on the pitch, then I hope it happens soon as we will need Malouda.
At the end of the day, the club, the manager and everybody around Malouda can do all they can to help the player but he needs to be willing to do it himself above anything else because everything and anyone else will be pointless.
I really really hope that we are talking of Malouda getting back to his best sooner rather than later because if he doesn't then it could cost Chelsea big time this season.
What do you guys think? What do you think of Malouda and his form this season?
