Am I the only Chelsea fan around that calls to question a loan agreement between Chelsea and Fulham for Gael Kakuta??. Firstly I can see from Mark Hughes and Fulham's point of view the reason as to why they want to take him to the Cottage. Let's hold our hands up and be honest, he would probably play more football there then he would at the Bridge. He would provide Hughes with an option of someone who has that spark to do something in a game whether its a mazy dribble, selling the defender a step over or two or even creating and scoring goals.
From the players point of view, he would possibly favour a move to another Premier League side and who better than our neighbours because even though we aren't supposed to say it, we never want to see Fulham relegated. It's good an healthy competition to have the two "derby games" each season. We may have a pop at each other in the stands, but I am sure there are a fair few who have a drink together afterwards (obviously not straight after...maybe after a few hours eh!).
Kakuta would see a chance to play more often than he would at Chelsea and can use the chance to show everyone and prove to himself that he has what it takes to make something of himself in our Premier League. We all know what he can do, what he is capable of and there is no question in my mind that if Chelsea can keep his head straight, encourage his development and give him more much needed game time and chances in the first team, we really could have a star on our hands.
I do however have to question why would we be prepared to allow Kakuta to leave on loan?. I would imagine it would be a deal to the end of the season would it not?. We have a small squad and the first half of the season has already shown us just how short in certain positions we really are.
Kakuta provides an option down that right hand side. At the moment we have Anelka with Kalou as cover, but what happens if one of them gets injured?. Kakuta would step in and fill the void wouldn't he?.
The only other reason I can see Chelsea willing to let him go is because they are more than confident of signing Sanchez (if you missed it check out the post and video of the bloke I put on here the other day, he is a prospect to say the least!).
I guess more will develop on this in the coming hours and days. Like the saying goes, "There's no smoke without fire!". In my opinion I just hope it's more of a cloud than anything. However like I said, if he does go to Fulham then good luck to them both!.
