After tonight I have to be honest and say that I really don't know what to think or how to feel about Carlo and the boys at the minute I really don't. On paper right now if anyone had said to us fans back at the end of October,
Oh by the way, you are going to have your worst run of form for years, lose away at Birmingham, get thumped at home by Sunderland and lose at Wolves!...you would have told them to "Get a grip!"..
I want to state on record that I fully respect Carlo Ancelotti as a Man first and foremost. I respect what he has achieved in the game as a player first of all and also as a Manager. We will always remember what he has achieved for Chelsea in his first season, our most successful season ever.
However, after this run of form you have to wonder what is going to happen now. There is no point us sitting here and trying to deny the facts. The facts are that we have been shit and have had a run of form that, let's face it, is relegation form and for the Champions and Double Winners this just isn't good enough.
Chelsea have become toothless, uninspired and lacking in alot of areas on the pitch. The players are no longer enjoying their football and it shows. It's all well and good dominating possession in games but we need to turn this into clear cut chances. Chelsea haven't been doing that. The players need to take a long hard look at themselves because I doubt that there is anyone but a few that can really look at their reflection and state that they have played at 100% and given their all.
The simple truth that we all will wake up to in the morning is that we have become a laughing stock. No longer feared by anyone in the League, no longer seen as a realistic threat for the Premier League title this season you have to wonder if we will wake up tomorrow and find out that Chelsea have once again taken drastic action to resolve matters. I hope not.
We can look at a whole host of reasons as to why we have had the results we have had. The Injuries and the lack of depth within our squad has been commented on and spoke about and will be for weeks now. I don't care what anyone says but the sacking of Ray Wilkins has played a huge part in our collapse and we have to face the reality of that.
Maybe Roman and Ron Gourlay are to blame as Carlo was only backed in signing Ramires this summer not anyone else. We've seen Kenyon go, Arnesen all of a sudden want to leave to take up a new challenge when it seemed as though he was more than happy to continue the project he had started at the club and the final straw that has broken our season or at least has played a huge part was the sacking of Wilkins.
Despite whatever happened there we have to hold our hands up and realise that Wilkins played a massive part in the fortunes of our club. Wilkins was a major part of the success Hiddink had. Hiddink always spoke highly of Wilkins and Carlo did the same. It's obvious to me that the link between the players and Carlo has gone.
Carlo looks a beaten man and how many more games will us fans, the owner and the board continue to accept the reaction of "I do not understand why this has happened?" from Carlo?. Like I said as much as I love the man to me anyway it seems as though the writing could be on the wall and that's just because of the previous we have seen with Roman. Part of me still has the burning desire to keep behind Carlo but we can all see it just isn't working.
It's weird sitting here looking at the League Table knowing we are 9 points behind United and they have a game in hand. Knowing that it's simply because our season has come apart that we have handed the title race to United, City and Arsenal.
It's such a strange feeling I have in my heart and in my gut right now of feeling numb. It's a feeling of knowing we are out of it as far as the title race goes and at the same time being at a complete loss as to why we as a side have gone from one extreme to another, brilliant to a disaster. I really want to stick with Carlo as I believe he can turn it round but at the same time we don't want to see everything fall apart even more than it has already.
As we sit here now, reading this, faced with a harsh reality of seeing the Premier League title slipping away, I am asking you all the question right now:
Can Carlo turn this around or do you expect him to leave Chelsea?KTBFFH.
