After writing my match report after another poor Chelsea performance last night, I am still sitting here frustrated at so many things that seem to be going wrong with our football at the moment.
For a start it's simple and plain to see for all of us. Our big name, World Class players are not performing and need to have a long look at themselves. These are the players the rest of the side look at to provide inspiration or a spark amongst the others to create something. If these players aren't doing it, then the rest of the side suffers.
Drogba, Malouda, Bosingwa, Essien since his return and Anelka have all been well below par and we need these guys to pick themselves up and to grab the rest of our side by the scruff of the neck to drag us out of the situation we are in.
Last night was another perfect example for me of Didier Drogba. People argue that he has had Malaria. That's fair enough, but he has been playing. If he isn't fit enough he doesn't play. If he is fit enough then he has been picked and has been crap let's face it.
Last night was ridiculous. I called for the "real Didier Drogba to stand up as his time is now" and it was one of the most half hearted, laboured performances I have seen from him since Manchester United away a few seasons back when we lost. He was shocking.
Last night to me the game wasn't about his performance for the team and his own individual performance but about the "occasion" and his relationship with Marseille from everyone at the club and the fans. Not once did he show any fight for Chelsea, or pride in wearing our shirt and Chelsea kit last night and it was a disgrace!.
Let's get back to Sunday's game and it's simple, if these players (such as Drogba) do not turn up against Spurs on Sunday we haven't got a hope of getting a good result and we will get beat. You have to say right now looking at how we are playing and how Spurs are playing we have to be under-dogs for the game. Everyone including Spurs will be thinking this is the best time to play Chelsea. Spurs are scoring goals for fun and we are struggling. It has the signs of being a nightmare for us if we cannot use these three days to sort ourselves out, but where do we begin?
It's so frustrating at the moment because we know how good we are and how good we can be. We just need that little piece of luck or piece of magic from someone to get us going again and against Spurs couldn't be a better time.
I am wondering if it is just one issue or a whole host of reasons for our slump?. Is it the injuries, a lac of confidence, the lack of voices on the pitch and on the bench, being afraid to play our football or as I have said, our big players not performing for one reason or another?.
Where do you think it has gone wrong and what do you think Chelsea need to do to sort ourselves out to get a result against Spurs at the weekend?
