Branislav Ivanovic's agent has been quoted here stating that the player is not happy playing at right back and wants to play centre half, has more or less said he wants reassurance that he will play there regularly or will look to leave!.
He said:
"The player's contract with Chelsea still has a year and a half to run, The club itself is fine, the only problem Ivanovic has is his position, as he prefers to play as a centre back and instead he is often used as a right back.I can understand Ivanovic's frustration but you have to admit he has been fantastic at right back and was voted in the Premier League team of the season last year. Agent's these days are a pain in the arse aren't they. Yes I know that have a role to play and will always look to get the best possible deal for "their man" (and themselves of course) but why even at this stage mention Inter Milan. We know why, and that's money.
We will talk to Chelsea at the appropriate time. If he is offered a new contract and we agree on all aspects then he will sign.
But if not, at that point, we will consider the possibility of moving to maybe a great club like Inter.
But for now, I repeat, there is absolutely nothing.”
At the moment I see Ivanovic as one of the best defenders in the league and Chelsea should do everything in their power to make sure he remains at the club. However, we could really have a problem if what the agent has said is true and he wants to play at centre half week in, week out.
Let's hope the players agent is just after a bigger contract and Ivanovic is happy to remain part of the Chelsea side no matter what position.
It's worrying though!.
