Petr Cech's comments published on the official website are exactly what is needed to be said in my mind anyway after the weekend. As I have mentioned on here before the press are going overboard on Chelsea at the moment but Cech has spoken to reassure the fans and bring a sense of reality to what had been going on with our form of late.
He said:
"It is an unusual situation for everybody here, the last five or six games are not what we are used to or would expect. But sometimes you have periods in sport, especially in football, when things go this way. We're in a period where everything is going against us and the small little things make a difference. When you are going through a difficult period you have it on your mind that you have to defend better, but sometimes it's not the way it should be.He is dead right. At times in the season everyone has a bad spell. It just so happens that ours has come at a time where alot of negative press and attention was focused on the club when Ray Wilkins left.
We need to be more relaxed and we have the experience to be, but it seems every time we got the ball in the second half (against Everton) we made the wrong choice. That's why in the end they got their equaliser.
There is still a positive in there though, as the first half showed we still have the quality to win games, but our problem recently has been that we cannot keep the performance for 90 minutes - we have periods of play where we are not there, and it has been more or less all season, even games where we won 6-0, at Wigan the first half was poor.
We are working on it and trying to improve things, we just need a trigger point, to get a break in a game, and I think everything will be fine. This could be the game on Wednesday against Marseille.
There are two games which make the larger picture look worse, Sunderland was a game where everything went wrong from the first minute to the last minute, we didn't create chances, couldn't press, couldn't win challenges. They had so many chances that the score in the end was right. You can have games like that during the season and I can accept that, so we can leave that game out.
The other one is Birmingham, 31 shots on goal, 10 on target, you can't ask for more, there is nothing more we could do to score a goal. It is one of those things that happens, but they came in successive games which looks bad."
Let's hope the players and Carlo can get Chelsea back to winnings ways sooner rather than later!. Let's get behind Carlo and the boys!.
