Ruthless Chelsea certainly pick their moments.

I have to say like the rest of you I was shocked and stunned to hear the news about Ray Wilkins yesterday. As posted on my Chelsea Daily Drivel this morning, the papers have had their say and until we hear from Wilkins himself or maybe from Carlo Ancelotti in his pre-match press conference rumour and speculation will continue as to why Gourlay decided to release Wilkins from his contract and especially halfway through a reserve game yesterday.

Now I am only speaking for myself here when I say when I first heard the news yesterday I thought first of all "why?" and second of all "Bloody Chelsea pick their moments".

You have to say coming up to the busiest period of the football calendar around Christmas is to put it mildly not the best time to make this kind of decision unless something has happened along the way where it has become "in the interest of both parties" as we so often hear when a manager leaves a club for example.

Chelsea's form has stuttered somewhat and I guess if I was a player I would want stability around me and with the news of Wilkins there is already stories of Chelsea players furious at the news.

At times, I can never understand situations such as these and of course everything will come out in the open in the next few days and we all will have the explanation from within the club whether its from Carlo or from the board.

One thing is for sure, the timing on this could have been better, then again imagine this happening in within our busy Christmas and New Year period coming up.

It's a sign of the new ruthless decisions being made by our board of directors once again and once again they have picked their moment to focus all the negative press and attention back on Chelsea when we need to ensure we have a happy camp, players are focused and working hard as we continue our hunt for glory at the end of the season.

Let's hope this all blows over sooner rather than later but as I have already said, they certainly pick their moments don't they!.
