There are stories all over the web and in the press this morning that John Terry is fearing the worst about the nerve problem he has in his right leg and it could keep him out for "months".
In the Daily Mail the article includes an interview with Terry and he says:
‘I have been struggling with a nerve pain coming from the top of my leg down to my hamstring and to the outside of my calf. It started towards the end of last season but with Chelsea being in the mix until the day of the FA Cup final, I didn’t have the chance to rest or pull out of games. Then I went straight to the World Cup with England.I have to say I noticed at the final whistle in the Fulham game that Terry pulled up after he went to head the ball and stood there feeling his leg as the camera focused their attention on him.
I had three weeks’ rest after that and thought I would come back without it, but since then it has got worse and worse. It has been manageable up until the last two weeks but when we played Fulham I stretched to win the ball against Clint Dempsey and it got a lot worse.
It is at a point where I can’t carry on with it. I used to be able to make it through games because the adrenaline gets going and you blank the pain out, but now there really is no decision to make.
After games I am in agony and not sleeping at all. I used to play with pain at seven out of 10. Now? It’s 10 out of 10. I need to take a few weeks rest, see a couple of specialists and solve the problem.’
The news today is a major blow if this is the case and he needs surgery or something like that. There is no question that Chelsea are not the same without John Terry. We need to get Alex back fit and wrap Ivanovic up in cotton wool for as long as we have these two playing we should be ok, but they do not replace JT for me.
Without him on the pitch and vice-captain Lampard, Chelsea lack a leader on the pitch and that became apparent on Sunday against Sunderland. Let's hope the news isn't as bad as it could be and Terry can get this problem sorted out sooner rather than later.
What do you guys think of the news?
