After weeks and weeks of speculation in the Summer and even with David Villa stating that he thought at the time Fernando Torres would sign for Chelsea, Torres decided to stay at Liverpool.
With big money being reported in the press that Chelsea were looking to offer the deal could have been a real possibility. I think being honest even Liverpool fans had doubts on whether or not he would stay. He decided to stay and after just seven games this season it looks as though Torres & Liverpool are struggling.
With his drastic loss of form, his numerous injury problems and public criticism I have been left wondering if Chelsea have had a lucky escape?
What do you think?
No - a missed opportunity, we have the strength in depth to have made sure Torres was rehabilitated and ready to go before we played him. Can you really say that a fully fit Torres playing off Drogba would not have been a dream pairing?
ReplyDeleteHe would be top class at Chelsea. Messi would struggle at Liverpool. That is the actual Messi not Joe Cole
ReplyDeleteHe's coming in January or the Summer.
ReplyDeletefeel enough is enough for torres think he will be a chelsea player in january but for no more than 30 mil as he cant play in champions league this season and with the right re hab we will turn him back into the player he once was
ReplyDeleteWhy can't he play in the ECL? The Poo did not qualify for this year's tournament... or am I mistaken?
ReplyDeleteI can tell you as my profession centres on reading body language, it is clear to me that Fernando no longer wants to be in Merseyside - he cuts an abject figure right now; if the opportunity surfaces where he can leave, he will. Not sure if it will be to the BLUES however as we are watching our costs right now, but he would be a welcome addition.
A fit Torres would be a huge signing for Chelsea. Forget the injuries, he needs time to recover and Woy cant afford to have him on the sidelines, so he rushes him back not fully fit.
ReplyDeleteI think we will sign him for sub £30 million in January...or maybe Shi**Y due to David Silva.
I wouldn't be surprised if we went for him in January, I mean he isn't cup tied and fully fit, nobody would be able to handle us. Plus with our strength in depth we will be able to nurture him and get the best out of him. Plus he will be a lot more motivated and we will see his best come out. Anelka is not getting any younger and Torres could be the ideal replacement, even if it means a gradual change in formation. I did hear Ballague during the summer say there was a gentlemans agreement in place with him and Barcelona but with their finances it may be difficult.
ReplyDeleteCD,
ReplyDeleteI have this same feeling and i am really happy that we have missed out on him, or rather he had missed it out on us! He decided to WALK ALONE and keep his football kit free from champagne! A good decision and i am so happy that we didn't waste huge money on him. I am sure had he come to us, he would be that high-flying Torres but what i really never forgot was "EPL is too tough for me". So, i am more happy that we are better off with someone who claimed EPL to be so. With the money that we were ready to pay for him, we can get equally decent striker: younger and tougher! I want Alan Dzagoev.
why sign torres when neymar has said he will be joining chelsea. With anelka nd dider playing so well it would be easier to ease a youth into the side like neymar than torres, they cant all play!
