The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....
So here are the Chelsea news updates on Tuesday 28th September 2010 including: Ancelotti's perfect summing up of Chelsea at City, Mikel states the City defeat will not derail Chelsea's title charge, Mancini still thinks Chelsea will win the League, Ancelotti and Redknapp on McEachran, Drogba's future up for discussion and Tevez reveals he spoke with Carlo!.
First in this catch up edition of the Chelsea Daily Drivel we turn back the clock to Saturday just after we had lost 1-0 to City. Let's be honest Chelsea were crap and I am glad that Carlo spoke as he did after the game. He spoke to Chelseafc.com and said:
I also agree with what he said about the Ref but not so sure about Ramires. I know the guy's introduction to playing for Chelsea has been speeded up as Lamps is out but at times he looked like he was struggling.
Not to John Obi Mikel and he has also spoken after the City game and he insist's the defeat will not derail Chelsea's bid for glory this season. He said:
Finally just one more point that has come out of the City game and that was Roberto Mancini's claim that Chelsea will still win the Premier League this season. He said:
The thing is, we all know we are good enough, but if we have games like that again against the likes of Arsenal, United and Liverpool then we will make hard work of this League this season!.
Now to promising youngster Josh McEachran. After making his home debut against Newcastle last week, and also coming on as a sub against City on Saturday, Carlo Ancelotti has said that the player is ready for the "big-time" at Chelsea and will have no problem with playing him as he is "ready". He said:
Also on McEachran, Skysports pundit Jaime Redknapp has also given his opinion on the youngster making all the headlines after his eye catching performances in the last two games. He said:
You have to agree with Redknapp, it's about time that we saw players from the Academy coming through and with the likes of McEachran, Van Aanholt and Bruma maybe, just maybe, we are seeing some!.
Now to Didier Drogba and maybe it's just coincedence but after Drogba didn't look happy after being taken off at City a report appears in The Sun stating that Drogba has said that maybe his future doesn't lie with Chelsea.
The article quotes Drogba as saying:
Finally in the Daily Drivel today it has also been reported that Carlos Tevez had a "discussion" with Carlo Ancelotti as his contract at United came to an end. He said:
You have to think back on this one, we still had Sheva at the club as it was Summer 2009. Di Santo, Drogba, Anelka, Sturridge etc so it no surprise that he never made a move as rememeber he is owned by this "other" company that has the rights to the player so would have cost a fortune.
I can't stand the bloke personally, so I am glad nothing ever happened!.
Stay tuned for the build up to tonights game and my match preview!

"I said to use more speed in the opponents' half, play quicker to avoid tackles in midfield. It is strange that we lost the fight in midfield and I think for this reason we lost the game.I think the key here is the message to the players that if you play as individuals you won't win anything but if you play together as a team you can win. That's exactly how we looked on Saturday. We had no fluidity, no switching and rotating positions in the final third to cause them problems.
We didn't have the possibility to play our football and also because Manchester City used a fantastic defence, because they used fantastic power in the tackles we lost a lot of balls in the opponents' half and we conceded a lot of counter attacks.
I think we prepared well for the game. We knew well how Man City play, that they wanted to stay back to defend well and give counter attacks, but we were not able to avoid this because our play was too complicated in the opponents' half, with a lot of dribbling and there was not speed when we moved the ball. Ramires had a good performance, he tried to push up with the ball and he tried to have penetration.
In what was a physical game, sometimes when a player suffers three fouls at the same time the referee has to whistle, but he couldn't because I think he left the whistle at home."
He said:
"We knew one day in one game this would happen but we went out there to win the game. We played very well but obviously we didn't handle the counter-attack, but we knew there would be hard times in the season and that was one of them.(Source: Goal.com)
We have to keep our head up. We have to keep training, keep working hard and tomorrow we'll go out to win the game. That loss won't be a distraction to any of the players. We knew there would be difficult games and that was one. Obviously we lost the game but it is not the end of the season, we have to keep going. We have to come back from this game, play well, focus and do things well that we didn't do right in the last game.
With this team when we lose a game we try to come back in the next game. Tomorrow's game will be the start of it. We will go out there, give a good performance, create chances and score some goals."
Finally just one more point that has come out of the City game and that was Roberto Mancini's claim that Chelsea will still win the Premier League this season. He said:
"I still think they will win it easily because I think they are the best team in the Premier League, It is not possible for them to score five goals every game. Sometimes you might get a result like today. But they are the better team."(Source: Skysports)
He said:
"He can play in the first team right now, without problem, He is very young but he showed fantastic ability and quality. So it is possible. If we need him he is ready to play the Premier League and the Champions League. I am not afraid to put a young player in important games because he has fantastic quality.(Source: The Telegraph)
It's difficult to say who he is like because to have a 17 year-old with his personality and character is amazing – he was not afraid to play in the last game.
We won't be sending him on loan. He will stay here and play here. We now have one more player. It's a surprise because he is a very talented player and we prepared a programme for him to improve but I think he is improving very quickly.
I don't have a fear of rushing him because his character is good, he is focused. He has balance. He is not afraid or quiet. And for this reason I can say he can play.
There is a possibility he can play a part against Marseille. We may need someone because without Lampard, without Benayoun we don't have a lot of midfielders. And if we need him I think we can count on him.
He has the ability to change the game – he can make a difference!"
Also on McEachran, Skysports pundit Jaime Redknapp has also given his opinion on the youngster making all the headlines after his eye catching performances in the last two games. He said:
“Josh McEachran is 17, has a sweet left foot and I hear has a terrific appetite for the game. Isn’t it fantastic to see an English player coming through the ranks at a club the size of Chelsea. It must send out a good signal to their Academy prospects. John Terry was the last player to come through and that’s not good enough for a club of their standing.”(Source: Sport.co.uk)
"When I signed a new contract at Chelsea, I always said I wanted to finish my career here. But I am well placed to say that anything can happen. When I was at Marseille I said I would finish my career there but, one week later, everything changed."For me this is no surprise that a report like this would appear in the press so soon after what happened Saturday. It's my view that this is just an off the cuff comment and is being blown up out of all proportion.
Finally in the Daily Drivel today it has also been reported that Carlos Tevez had a "discussion" with Carlo Ancelotti as his contract at United came to an end. He said:
“When Manchester United didn’t want me, I had a conversation with Ancelotti but there was never any concrete offer. I only ever talk about proper, written offers – and that was the case with City.(Source: Soccer Lens)
