So here is the latest from around the web on Sunday 1st August 2010 including: Villa speaks about Torres, Kaka to be sold by Jose?, Carlo urges the players to forget their World Cup hangovers and The first team take on Frankfurt today without Sturridge and Lampard.
First today to news that David Villa has spoken out about Fernando Torres and the constant speculation regarding his future. He said:
"I am actually a little surprised. It looks like Nando is staying. After I spoke with him at the World Cup I thought he would sign for Chelsea. I think it must only be that Chelsea did not meet Liverpool's valuation. Because, if they had, I am sure he would have made the move.
This is Liverpool's last chance to keep him. They have to prove they are capable of challenging on all fronts this season, otherwise he will be gone. Torres is happy at Liverpool in every sense apart from the football. He loves the city, the fans and the players but he is the best striker in the world. He will go if he has to. He would not sign for Manchester City because, for him, the money is not the most important thing. But if Liverpool fail to win anything I am sure he will be at Chelsea next summer.
He was promised things at Liverpool that just haven't happened. They said they would build a squad that would challenge Manchester United for the title - and it just hasn't happened. They sold Xabi Alonso last year and are going to sell Javier Mascherano this summer. I can totally understand Nando's frustration. The best all-round striker in the world isn't playing in the European Cup during his peak years and that's just not right. If the new coach and players win something then I am sure he will stay .If not, I am sure he will go and nobody could blame him."

Now to Carlo Ancelotti. Carlo has urged his players to get over their World Cup hangovers and concentrate on Chelsea once again. He said:
"I think we have to put our minds back to the end of last season, Our season was very good and we had a lot of celebration, and now we have to rediscover that. The World Cup was a different story for them and we have to create a good atmosphere now.
They've had to work very hard to improve their condition and I didn't find any problems. Everyone expects us to do our best but it's very difficult in football to repeat. We have the same aim as last year, to stay in competitions. But last year we went out of the Champions League too early so we have to do better".

These spanish players and their subtle way of forcing a move..
ReplyDeleteTorres definitely wants to come to Chelsea this summer. Problem is, do we really NEED him? maybe want, but 50m is too steep of a price to pay for wanting a ladyboy glassbody here
