The Chelsea Daily Drivel & The Drivel Giggle!

The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....

So here are the Chelsea news updates on Tuesday 24th August 2010 including: Yossi Benayoun, Malouda, Sergio Ramos, Di Santo, Begovic, Slobodan Rajkovic and Nemanja Matic and the return of the Drivel Giggle that features Frank Lampard!

First this morning to Yossi Benayoun. Yossi scored our sixth goal as we all know after coming on as a substitute for Malouda with the game more or less wrapped up by then and Benayoun has stated that he is happy to feature as a bit-part player.. for now!. He said:

"When I arrived at Liverpool, I knew I had to wait on the bench and try to change games and now I'm also doing it for Chelsea. When you come to a big club you need to be patient, there are a lot of quality players, but I just want to prove that I deserve to be here every chance that I get.

I enjoy playing anywhere and every minute I am on the pitch. I can play anywhere in the three in midfield or the three up front."

I have to say he will struggle to make it into our first team at the moment as it more or less picks itself once everyone else is fit and you can imagine that Ramires will also be selected ahead of him when fully match fit and up with the pace of the game in England, so it could be a long hard slog for Yossi this season!.

Next to Florent Malouda and he has been speaking of our start to the new season scoring 12 goals in the process. He said:

"It is difficult to know why people think that Arsenal play the better football. Even when we finished top, people still said Arsenal played better than us. But you are seeing an evolution since the manager came in. We are scoring more goals and keeping more clean sheets and that is what it is all about if you want to win the league.

You have to be efficient but, when you see a team like Chelsea scoring so many goals, I hope people recognise our quality. But we are not playing for glory, we are playing to win. You can say we have a killer instinct because we know that, if we have any kind of opportunity, we have to kill the game.

Now to a rumour that has resurfaced after a while and that's regarding Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos. If you haven't heard about it or read about it apparently Chelsea are weighing up a massive 40m Euros offer for the defender. The rumour also states that Chelsea would be offering Ramos a massive 10m Euros per season to come to the Bridge which is ridiculous in my eyes as we have more than enough cover at the right back position as it is with Ivanovic, Ferreira and Bosingwa. I wouldn't take too much notice of this one Chelsea fans!.

Now to another rumour that has been bubbling for a while regarding Franco Di Santo. Di Santo who importantly did not feature for the reserves in their 1-1 draw with Everton yesterday. It may be due to the fact that Wigan Manager Roberto Martinez want's to bring him to the DW Staduim to bolster his squad after a nightmare start to the new season. A loan deal for the season at Wigan looks to be on the cards. Watch this space!

Now to Asmir Begovic and he has spoken for the first time of the reported interest in his services from Chelsea. He said:

"Obviously I'm aware that the gaffer said there was an enquiry, but nothing is happening. If someone wants to take me and they accept a bid, that's a different story, but in the meantime I just have to get on with my job. This kind of thing is just part and parcel of the job. Maybe there is people talking and stories being written, but at the end of the day you come to work and do your job.

On the other side, it is brilliant and I'm really flattered. Who wouldn't be if they were mentioned in connection with a great club like Chelsea?"

It's now down to Chelsea and Carlo to make their move.

Now to two of the Chelsea youngsters and prospects for the future in Slobodan Rajkovic and Nemanja Matic. Vitesse Arnhem are expected to sign these two on loan for the season to gain important first team experience. Vitesse's new owner Merab Jordania said:

"Slobodan Rajkovic and Nemanja Matic? Yes, they will come,"

Finally today and its a return for the Daily Drivel Giggle!. In today's Giggle we feature a situation that has developed at the clubs training ground in Cobham and involves the players underpants!!

Reports have come out of the training ground that someone is going into the players changing room and cutting holes in their designer underwear!

Even Frank Lampard has spoken of whats been going on!. He said:

“It’s gone on for about a year. We get in to find the bum cheeks cut out of our underpants. It has to be one of the players. They are the only ones with access. You might get two hits in a week, then he won’t attack for a month or so. I’ve a good idea who it is but wouldn’t dream of making accusations until I have proof. It’s costing a fortune in designer underwear.”

However a Chelsea "Insider" has said:

“It was a bit of a laugh but now the lads are a bit cheesed off.

There’s hardly any holes in our defence - so it’s a shame the same can’t be said of our underpants!!.”
