With the confirmation that Rafa Benitez has left Liverpool by mutual consent I am wondering what will happen next.

Does this mean the likes of Gerrard, Reina and Fernando Torres will leave the club as Rafa's gone and they face a season without Champions League football!?

We have been linked with Torres before this summer and you have to say that if Roman stumps up the cash Liverpool can't afford to turn a big offer down.

Could developments today spark a transfer scramble for the signature of Torres?. With Chelsea offering him a chance to challenge for titles on all front's next season could it be too hard to resist?.

  1. NO way, we don't want another injury prone player in our ranks, besides we have to look for other options with Nico and Drog not getting young, hope studge and Borini get gametime and not loaned out this season. Let torres run back to spain. Didn't he say this was his last year in the prem league??

  2. chelsea daft, makes sense fucking piece of shite. torres wont go to chelsea him and drogba wont work, so FUCK OFF

  3. Now Now! Think about it before you abuse the site. Do you really think he will stay? Who else can afford him? He wont go to Citeh cause they aren't in the CL and he won't go to United because of his affiliation with Liverpool.

  4. To the last thing you said, well the same thing can be said about chelsea then. I reckon if he was to go it would be to barca.

  5. @Anon above,

Barca have already bought Villa for 35m and will offer the same for Fabregas. I can't see them spending the cash for Torres too. Can you?

  6. whatever you say torres is a world class finisher and if the price is right i would welcome him to the blues drogba and anelka not getting any younger and with the right supply he will bag loads of goals

  7. @Anon above

The Drog has already said he would welcome him at Chelsea.

  8. I know so I think he will stick it out for one more season then move on to another team. And whoever says they wouldn't get Torres I laugh at them, he is one of the best strikers in the world, its not the question of would chelsea need/get him it would be if Torres would go there.

  9. Nope, it's been known in Liverpool for a while that Torres, Gerrard and a few others were more intent on leaving if Rafa stayed. They were unhappy with a lot of things that happened last season and were ready to walk.

Rafa leaving has decreased the odds of those players moving.

  10. Why wouldn't he come to Chelsea?. Before you answer, think about the current situation at Liverpool.

  11. @Chelseadaft, maybe because he's not a renagade bastard and feels a bit of loyalty towards us. He has said on numourous occassions that he loves living here and how he wants to help rebuild the team.

  12. @Anon above..@ 1751

I have to say its more than likely Stevie G will leave for Madrid if Jose comes knocking as he can't afford to turn him down three times!. Madrid is Madrid at the end of the day.

I am only asking the question on all this because if the state of your club. Let's face it, you as the supporters want the owners out and the financial situation sorted. With Rafa going its only going to destabilise the club even more and sorry to keep reminding you but with NO CL football next season why would the likes of Gerrard and Torres want to stay. One reason and thats the fans.. but at the end of the day every player wants to fill their trophy cabinets and I am sorry but I can't see that happening at the moment at Liverpool. Thats why the lure of Madrid or Chelsea is too great to resist ... at the moment!.

  14. torres would be brilliant, id have torres over nico anyday as i dont think nico is good enough for us. if we dont get torres, i hope we go for higuian, a proper finisher always lurking in the box- just what we need

  15. @Anon above I would have him over this guy anyday

  16. @ chelseadaft ibra has all the attributes to be a class prem striker- strong powerful and he's not exactly slow, but he's just a worse version on drogs, lazy and moans alot ibra dosnt come up with flashes of brilliance as much as drogs does

  17. Dreamin' mate, Torres is just way too loyal to his club. He would never go to another Premiership club.

Only wish we had players like that... Lamps is the closest we can get.

  18. Hi RafaTheRed here,

I haven't come here to argue so easy now!

Its obvious that Rafa has gone because Torres, Gerrard and a couple of our top players lost faith in him. Now he's gone i think all the players will stay (or a least the one's worth keeping.

There are problems at Liverpool, this is well documente. However I dont think its as bad as you all think!

We don't need to sell are big names!!!

If you look at Yossi Beneyoun at both West Ham and Liverpool he's probably only really been good for 2 seasons! 1 1/2 at West Ham and 1/2 a season a Liverpool!

Very inconsistent and a bit of a mercenary! Chelski can have him!

Non of the fees quoted below are excessive or inflated to boost the pot!

    We need to get rid and replace;

    San Jose: 2.5m SOLD
    Yossi Beneyoun: 6m
    Albert Riera: 6m
    Cavalieri: 4m
    Fabio Aurelio: FREE
    Emiliano Insua: 3m
    Damien Plessis: 2.5m
    Itadje: 1m
    El Zhar: 2m
    Stephen Darby: 500k
    Philip Degan: 2m
Javier Mascherano: swap with YaYa Toure – Barcelona: +10m

    Total: 39.5m

    Bring in;

    Jonjo Shelvey - Charlton: 1.7m
    Danny Wilson - Rangers: 2.5m
Milan Jovanovic – Standard Liege: FREE
    Joe Cole - Chelsea: FREE
Royston Drenthe – Real Madrid: £6.5m
YaYa Toure - Barcelona: see above
    ArdaTuran – Galatasary: £12m
    Ever Banega: Valencia: £8m
    Oscar Cordoza: Benfica: £12m

    Total: 42.7m

    GK Jose Reina, Peter Galaksi
    RB Glenn Johnson, Martin Kelly
    LB Royston Drenthe, Danny Wilson
CB Jamie Carragher, Sotirios Kyrgiakos , Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel, Daniel Ayala
    RM Maxi Rodríguez, Joe Cole
LM Arda Turan, Milan Jovanovic, Ryan Babel
CM Stephen Gerrard, YaYa Toure, Ever Banega, Alberto Aquilani, Lucas Lieva,
CF Fernando Torres, Oscar Cordoza, David Ngog, Dani Pacheco, Dirk Kuyt

    Total spend 3.2m

So you see 5m (if its really that low) is a great figure but not the main issue! Giving the new permission to invest any cash generated from player sales is the real news!

All the above was also achieved without selling Babel, Lucas an Kuyt as well which if we did could generate a further 20m.

Stop reading the tabloids there's enough money available to get the job done.

    ReplyDelete
  19. this isnt fifa, your not gonna buy cardozo or turan for 12m each
and barca would not swap toure for mascherano and give 10m

oh and theres no way in a million years joe cole will go to liverpool!

    ReplyDelete
  20. All i'm saying is Torres was part of the group of players that were against Rafa Benitez so now Rafa has gone why would he leave. He surely is going to stay at least one more season if we do awful again then he will leave (most likely to Barca)

    ReplyDelete
  21. whoever you are if you want to sell mascherano we'd be screwed, clueless! he does all gerrards and all lucas's running and tackling hes a machine.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I wouldn't be surprised to see Torres in and Drogba out. Nothing substantial to back that up but if Jose sniffs Drog out then maybe Ancelotti would let hm go.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The reason he went to Liverpool was because of Rafa but I doubt he will follow Rafa to Italy. He will probably stay one more season but I would like to see him come to the Bridge

    ReplyDelete
  24. I wouldn't be surprised to see Torres go to Chelsea in the same way that I wouldn't be surprised if the removal of Rafa Benitez was engineered by Martin Broughton (the Chelsea inside man at Liverpool)partly, for the purpose of making such a transfer possible. All allegedly of course.

    ReplyDelete
  25. You guys are all idiots....Joe Cole isn't going to leave Chelsea, and I think personnaly as a Chelsea fan Chelsea shouldn't buy Torres rather go for Aguero. Aguero is brilliant all the time, fast paced and only 22. Torres may well be a better finisher, but eventually Aguero can be as good. I think Atletico Madrid should re-buy him. They really need a better attacking force and Torres could handle that position with Forlan and Simao providing crosses for him. As long as Aguero comes to Chelsea for 35-40mil then they can just use most of that plus the money they already have to buy Torres, their former captain.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Torres is a very good striker but Aguero is ideal for us. Very fast, lots of guile, great dribbler, turns defenders around and around, excellent vision, sweet short passing and a crisp finisher. English defenders will have a torrid time shutting him down and he's the perfect foil for Drogba. And while we're in Spain can we swing by Barcelona and pick up Dani Alves???

    ReplyDelete
  27. @ Anonymous 02:51
I agree with you in the Kun Aguero deal, but the Dani Alves one? Never. It's just that, we have Ivanovic, who is in the form of his life and then we have Bosingwa, who is just coming back from injury. He was astonishing last season, just watch his solo effort vs. WBA, but if we are going to stay in Spain, we should buy Aguero and MAYBE we should purchase Yaya Toure. He is perfect to replace the injurious Essien, and can score goals and has experience, unlike Obi Mikel.

  28. please we need Torres at all cost.sergio Aguero is another player we need at this moment.thanks.
