Essien Signs!

Some great news today from Chelsea is the news that Michael Essien has signed a two year extension to his current Chelsea contract keeping him at the club till 2015.

Essien said:

'I am delighted because the club has shown a very big confidence and interest in me. I am looking forward to coming back and enjoying my football and winning more trophies with the club. That is why I am here. I think it is one of the most important contracts in my career.'

Carlo Ancelotti also spoke of Essien's new deal and he said:

'I am very happy that Michael has agreed to extend his time with us, as it means he will continue to be a very important player for Chelsea long into the future.'

So its fantastic news for Chelsea and for us fans. Essien had been linked with Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid but this has quashed any rumours about his future. Let's just hope that Essien can get fit for the start of the new season. I know we won the double and it was a fantastic season but we did still miss Essien!.
