The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....
So here is the latest from around the web on Thursday 10th June 2010 including:James Milner, Nico Anelka, Michael Ballack and Joe Cole.
Firstly it seems that Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has resigned himself to the fact that he will lose James Milner this summer. Its reported that Man City are offering Milner 90k per week to join them. However, the SUN is reporting that John Terry and Frank Lampard will use Englands training base and the time away together to convince Milner to join Chelsea for half the wages City are offering. The article re-iterates the fact that Milner has said its not about the money it purely based on footballing reasons if he moves so JT and Lamps are looking to capitalise. Chelsea are proven winners in the Premier League and cup competitions whereas, for the time being, City aren't. Chelsea can also provide Milner with Champions League football.
This is a signing I have mentioned on here before and would love to see at the Bridge. With spaces to be filled in the squad and Chelsea looking to bring the average age of the squad down Milner is a perfect fit!. More to follow in the coming days/weeks on this one!
The Daily Mirror is today reporting that Nicolas Anelka is due to sign a new 2-year contract at Chelsea. There had been recent speculation about Anelka and his contract but this now appears to be over. Anelka looks as though he has signed the extended contract for the same existing terms he is on at the moment which shows his commitment to Chelsea.
This is great news for everyone concerned. Anelka has more than proven his worth since he came to the club from Bolton and has become a regular under Carlo Ancelotti.
Now to the Michael Ballack situation. As we know the news broke yesterday that he will become a free agent on 1st July. Ballack's agent stated after the official word broke that neither he nor Ballack had heard anything from the club in relation to renegotiating his contract for the last three months. This is something Ballack has confirmed today. He said:
Obviously we wish Ballack well. Make sure you check out my post about Ballack and add your thoughts to the question I asked of you all. "Was he undervalued or did we expect too much?".
Finally Joe Cole. Just like the Ballack situation there will be more and more developments in the next few days and weeks. If you have missed it, it seems that a deal has already been agreed with Arsenal.
Make sure you read my post about Joe Cole's time at Chelsea.
More tomorrow!
CAREFREE & KTBFFH EVERYONE!!

This is something Ballack has confirmed today. He said:
It's unfortunate we couldn't come together, but I have to put it behind me, I've known for a while that the negotiations had stopped and it's time to move on. I have to find a new club and carry on with my career. Chelsea was always my first choice as I had four great years at the club and enjoyed every minute, but it was not to be. It's still my first choice, even now, but it was not up to me. The decision was down to Roman.
To end my career like this is not an option, I want to play for at least two more years at the highest level so I can play for Germany at the European Championship. I've played in three Euros and two World Cups so know how special they are and can't end like this. I'm even more determined to carry on since I've been injured and the motivation is growing inside me every single day. I'm not yet ready to 'retire' by going to the United States or Dubai and want to stay in Europe. I'm a proud German who always enjoyed living there, so have some options back home."
