They say you have to have some luck or luck on your side to win the title and after two penalty decisions that went our way and incensed Owen Coyle, Bolton and Sir Alex Ferguson (no doubt) it seems for the time being, luck's on our side!
Don't get me wrong Chelsea fans it was a dominant display by Chelsea once more. Over the 90 minutes we deserved to win the game and created more chances. Kalou had a chance saved by the keeper, Lampard hit the post and Drogba and Joe Cole had efforts flash over the bar.
However it was Nico Anelka who ended his goal drought with a close range header from a sublime Didier Drogba cross that got the all important goal that saw Chelsea take a massive advantage in the title race.
I had predicted that Bolton would be no easy game and it proved the case. Credit where credit is due, Bolton dug in and worked hard and could of rescued a point if Ellmander had headed home from 6 yards just after coming on as a sub. If that was Kevin Davies it would of been 1-1. If Bolton play with the heart and determination they did last night then they should see their way clear of the drop zone and good luck to them!.
At this stage all that matters is that scoreboard come 90 minutes. We know it wasn't pretty and we know we can play better but who cares, its another three points and we sit four points clear of United and six clear of Arsenal who have the North London Derby tonight at three-point lane.
Carlo said after the game:
'It was not an easy game, we knew this because Bolton came to Stamford Bridge to play their game. They played well and put some pressure on for 90 minutes with a lot of long balls, It was a tough game for us but Chelsea did a good job, we won, the most important thing, and had a lot of chances to score and improve our result.
We needed to fight to win the second ball and we did it. We had 21 attempts, we deserved to win, it was difficult but a very good result and for me a very good performance. We needed to take three points, we did and I am happy.'
So Carlo and the boys can sit back and watch what happens tonight and also at midday on Saturday as United face City in what has to be a much more difficult game than it appeared a few weeks ago.
Chelsea just have to keep winning, its as simple as that and wait for the others to slip. I have a feeling that United just might this weekend!
KTBFFH!
Congrats also to Florent Malouda who collected his Barclays Player of the Month award for March after his recent impressive displays against Portsmouth, Villa and Man Utd.
CAREFREE & KTBFFH EVERYONE!
