Tonight is by far the biggest game of Chelsea's season and who on earth would of said that after the Arsenal game at the Emirates. Since that game we have blown chance after chance to extend the lead at the top of the Premier League and its culminated in another two points dropped at Blackburn. We are now 4 points behind United with tonight as our game in hand. If we don't win you could more or less say our title chances are over.
As the players walked off the pitch on Sunday you could see the dejection in their faces. They knew that they had blown it and it was there for all to see. We in recent weeks, have seemed to lack fight and ideas and thats the most disappointing thing about all this.
Please Carlo before its too late you have to switch to 4-3-3 and play Joe Cole. Its obvious that teams flood their midfield to stifle our play. They look to make it difficult for us so we need to open up the play and get the ball wide. We have to play with the three up front including Malouda left and Joe right and one or the other of Drogba and Anelka. Let's hope that decision will come tonight and we go out and put on a performance and get a result to put us within one point of United.
It will be no easy game tonight however, as we all know of mounting problems Pompey are faced with. Its a credit to Avram Grant (remember him) and the players to carry on. If anyone questioned their fight and determination, it was answered on Saturday. Being 2-1 down with little time remaining they never gave up and came back to win the game 3-2. A fantastic fightback.
After all, Pompey and Avram Grant in contrast to Chelsea and Ancelotti, have nothing to lose. They look as though they are already down and out and are playing with a freedom to their football. They know their fans are right behind them no matter what so they just go out and enjoy playing their football.
For Avram Grant the game obviously means more because its Chelsea and I am sure he would love to put one over his old club to prove a point so its not going to be easy at all.
Tonight we welcome back Petr Cech from injury and this could be key to the start of an important run in. Ross Turnbull has done well since he came in from the cold. Cech presence back in goal should have an effect on our defence and give them more confidence.
With Ivanovic out, Ferreira will start at right back, Zhirkov at left back. JT of course will start as captain but its a toss up between Alex and Riccy as to who starts next to him. I am hoping our midfield will be Mikel, Lampard and Ballack, with the three up front of Malouda, Drogba and Joe Cole.
We need to win no matter what, anything else is a failure tonight. Let's hope for once, before its too late, Ancelotti see's our strength is getting the ball wide to allow Lampard to make his late runs into the box, and Joe or Malouda swinging crosses into the box to Drogba.
This is it. All or nothing!
CAREFREE & KTBFFH EVERYONE!
Please do not mention J Cole in the context of playing for Chelsea. His appeareance in the Inter Milan game should have been enough to show that he is not of the calibre we need.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Joe Cole has to play more since we seem to be short of ideas at the moment, and there isn't much of an alternative other than Deco(who I think can hardly have any sort of influence on a game).
ReplyDeleteSo since pretty much all of our full backs are injured I think we should play with Malouda on the left wing and Joe Cole on the right with the two strikers in the middle, and if it's that important for Anelka to play on the wing, Joe Cole can move inside!
