So with United winning against Arsenal on Sunday its another must win game for us tonight. We travel to the KC Stadium to take on Hull in our game in hand on the others and we simply must win to re-establish our four point lead over United ahead of this weekends games.
Tonight it looks as though we will welcome Didier Drogba back into the starting line up along with Ricardo Carvalho and Deco but its Didier's comeback that will be the main talking point and questions from Chelsea fans as to how Ancelotti will line the side up this evening.
During the last few weeks he has reverted back to the established 4-3-3 formation and it has proved effective with us scoring goals for fun and playing some fantastic football. So with Didier coming in tonight does that mean that we will revert back to the 4-Diamond-2 formation that Ancelotti prefers to play?
Does it mean that if we do play with the two up front (and knowing Deco is coming back into the side) that Joe Cole will make way in midfield with us possibly playing Deco, Malouda, Ballack and Lampard?. Or will Malouda make way so Joe Cole plays in behind the front two of Anelka and Drogba?.
The great thing for Carlo is that he has a fantastic squad to choose from and has world class options in midfield so no matter who he plays and how he plays we have the quality to see us through tonight, But remember the home game at the Bridge, Carlo's first in charge, it was no easy game and Hull came to do a job and very nearly nicked a point off of us.
Tonight will be no different but I do think that Hull have suffered ever since they sold Michael Turner to Sunderland. He was a very solid centre half and sured up their defence and I think they have been struggling ever since he left. Some Hull fans may disagree with me but can they really ever state that they have been the same at the back without him?.
Of course Hull will pose a threat to us at some stage in the game and the main threat will come from Vennegoor up front who scores goals for fun when he gets a run of games and thats not to forget all Chelsea fans favourite player Stephen Hunt! New signing Amir Zaki could get a start against us tonight but you have to say that Hull are up against it tonight. They are without a win in their last 9 games (D5, L4) and confidence seems low at the moment and it with that, Chelsea must capitalise tonight.
We need once more to get on the ball early, get our passing going and dominate possession. Make Hull chase the ball over the pitch as no doubt they will want to press our man on the ball and close down the space as soon as possible. If we remain composed and make the ball do the work but pass, pass, pass then after a while I can see Hull getting tired and the game opening up.
Again (as yes I know I have said it before) its a must win game and I don't care if we play awful as long as we nick a 1-0 win and take the three points. The press are going do-lally over United performance against the Arsenal at the weekend but remember we did exactly the same so we need to re-establish the four point lead at the top.
So come on Chelsea, get the three points no matter what tonight!
COME ON THE BLUE BOYS! CAREFREE AND KTBFFH EVERYONE!
