Chelsea confirm Essien out for three to four weeks!

Today Chelsea have confirmed the worst possible news for the short term, that Michael Essien will be out for three to four weeks after tearing his hamstring. This is sad news for Michael first of all with the African Nations cup on the horizon in January, but for us Chelsea fans its a major blow as we look to get our form back on track starting this weekend against Everton.

Despite our recent results in the last week one thing has remained and that's Essien's workrate in games. He is a man mountain and his physical presence will be missed in our midfield. With Essien there it free's up the likes of Ballack and Lampard to get on the ball and look to create. There is no doubt that Essien is Ancelotti's first choice in the holding midfield role in his 4-Diamond-2 formation. With Essien out its a chance in the next few weeks for Mikel to have a regular role in the side before he goes away to the African Nations.

We hope that we can get our act together in the next few weeks. Once the African Nations is upon us, its more players missing. With Essien out, it means he won't be in a blue shirt for two months!
