Somewhat of a surprise today is Frank Lampard speaking out on the FIFA ban that we have all done nothing but read and hear about over the last couple of days and I have to say its great to finally hear someone saying something positive to the press about the situation.
I know the club is taking a stern line on this for obvious reasons as they are preparing to appeal and contest the decision of FIFA but the fact that Lampard has now come out and spoken of the situation, it gives the press something else to chew on which as we all know will rumble on..
Lampard has said to the press:
"A lot of things have happened to me in my career with England and Chelsea and whenever it’s backs to the wall, for whatever reason that might be, it brings a togetherness and can be used as a positive. You certainly can’t let it be used as a negative. It’s something that is out of the players' control anyway so all we can do now is make it a positive. It's a question that certainly shouldn't just involve Chelsea. We all want to see good English kids coming through. I played in the West Ham first team at 17. But there was nowhere near the quality there is at Chelsea now."
So Lampard has backed the youngsters we have at the club and this is maybe the ideal time for Chelsea to bring them through. This along with the togetherness and spirit at the club which as that has been on display so far this season looks as strong as ever.
