There are numerous reports in the press this morning that Roman Abramovich is about to loosen the purse strings once more and spend big this week to bolster the Chelsea squad. There has been constant reports recently about Andrea Pirlo and this one looks like a real possibility now and people expect the deal to be done this week. Whether or not Claudio Pizzaro goes as part of the deal is another thing.
Reports state that Roman is about to fork out £100m on three players and the other two mentioned are Aguero and Ribery Now these two players have been mentioned before during the summer in the press, and posted on this site by me and I would have normally said that I can't see Chelsea paying ridiculous amounts of money first of all on a transfer fee but also on wages.
Bayern Munich were reported at one stage to value Ribery in the same bracket as Kaka and Athletico Madrid more or less the same about Aguero, maybe not the same amount of money as Kaka but ridiculous sums at least. Not only that but the rumours of wages the players want is even worse and I couldn't see Chelsea paying these sums of money.
BUT, after John Terry announcing he will stay and the involvement of Roman in his talks and plans for the future it IS obvious that one or two will be leaving and a one or two will be coming in. I can see us maybe getting hold of two of them with Pirlo more or less a dead cert now (but like I have said before i can't see why we want him) with maybe Aguero.
But one thing is for sure, If JT does get offered a new deal at Chelsea at the end of this season then he WILL want to be on the same level as anyone new to the club. But in all honesty I can't see players coming in on more money than the likes of Lampard, Terry etc.
So let's just wait and see what happens. By now Carlo Ancelotti has had a good long look at the squad on the pitch and off it and he now knows the players characters etc. He said the other day that after the Reading game he will be making his decisions as who can go etc as he wants a squad of 26 players including his 3 goalkeepers.
One thing is for sure the squad will be different to what we have at the moment come the end of August.
