So Carlo Ancelotti has been confirmed as the new man at the Helm at Chelsea but what do we really know about him?
We know he has been at Milan for a long period of time and he has won all their is to win at Milan. He has won the Scudetto, Super Cup, Champions League and Italian Cup. You have to say he has an impressive CV back then but what has he achieved in more recent times? Well very little you have to say. He won the Champions League twice and the more recent of the two was 3 seasons ago in 2007. He only won the Italian Scudetto once in 2004 so for me its nowhere nearly as impressive as it sounds.
Look what happened to Scolari. He came with an impressive record boasting winning the World Cup and everyone was raving about him, 6 months later he left the club, Ancelotti has said that he spoke with Abramovich after Grant was sacked about taking over as Roman wanted the side to play with more "Personality". In Guus Roman found that, and Guus managed to achieve his objective but will Carlo be able to fill Guss' big shoes and fill the massive void that has been left now at Chelsea?.
Don't get me wrong, I really want Ancelotti to come to Chelsea and achieve great things, we all do. His English is impressive after watching his first English Interview on the Chelsea web site this afternoon so I don't see that being too much of a problem. Ray Wilkins will be there for him to help him and to help him settle in.
I just don't see how (at the moment) we are taking a step forward with Ancelotti. He has had little success for the last two seasons with some of the biggest names in the world playing for him. With the likes of Ronaldinho, Kaka, Pirlo and Beckham he had to rely on a result to ensure AC Milan sneaked in the automatic qualification spot for the Champions League. This concerns me big time!
Right now we are all on a high after an amazing finish to the season, where we put up a great chase of Man Utd and Liverpool in the Premier League, and should of been in the Champions League final. We have won the FA CUP so for me Ancelotti needs to hit the ground running next season or we could have another Scolari on our hands!
