We've done it. We have our hands on some silverware for the first time in two seasons and it feels fantastic. There is no better way to say thank you and goodbye to Guus and what a performance by the players in really difficult conditions. The weather was baking hot, the pitch was dry and we went a goal down within 25 seconds so an addition to all this Bobby Di Matteo's record went!
You have to say that the boys reacted superbly. But that's what we have been doing fantastically well for the last 4 months. Once we got on the ball and started to play it was clear that Everton couldn't live with us.
The goal we conceded was sloppy. Mikel did his best to win the header and clear the ball and in doing so left Saha wide open and you have to admit he took it well. Cech had no chance.
But like i have said, we dusted ourselves off, picked ourselves up and took the game to the Toffee's. Credit to JT and Lamps for picking the boys up and getting them playing.
Apart from that early blip i thought the back four looked comfortable. Saha had another header he should of done better with but that's over with now. Alex after his nervy start and JT were solid. Bosingwa did ok and was solid too but Ashley Cole was difference class once more. He defended well and more importantly attacked the left wing well too. Hibbert was having a nightmare against Malouda and when he stepped inside off the wing he had Cole to deal with and he was a threat all game.
Our midfield three were solid too. Essien had a quiet game and got away with a high tackle in the first half so i wasn't surprised he went off. Mikel was outstanding and he should his maturity once more and played really well and Super Frank was exactly that. He played the simple way in the first half. Supported his Defence well, played simple passes and important killer passes when needed and of course scored his goal which was fantastic. Ballack came on and did ok. Won some important free kicks towards the end of the game to kill off Everton's possession when we needed him to.
Anelka was busy all game and maybe should of scored with one of his two lobs over Howard. Drogba apart from the goal didn't really do alot you have to say but that's Drogba for you. When you need him to come up with something he does and his header was fantastic. Malouda was different class and should of had a goal but you can't blame the Ref or his Assistants as he hit the 30 yarder like a rocket and they would of had no chance to catch up with play to even seen if it was over the line or not. Malouda has forged a great partnership down our left hand side with Cole and these two were brilliant for us on Saturday.
So its another Trophy for Chelsea and I have the feeling this could be the start of something great again for us. Its the perfect icing on the cake and a great way to finish off our season!
